Winter Wonderland

A very quick page from me for the weekly challenge set by my lovely friend, Sue on UKs.  December seems a busy month for some reason!

We had to use a photo of a Mum, use numbers and also Sue's sketch.  I took this photo of Chris' Mum on Friday night when we took her to the city to see the Christmas display.  She had a thoroughly lovely time and didn't want to go home:)

This picture shows the hidden journalling.

I don't know why the photos of my layout look so washed out.  I have no idea how to tinker with them to make them look a bit brighter!

Journal your Christmas

The first of December, time to document my Christmas:)  This is one challenge I have never completed so I am going to try really hard to do it this year.  I've made a mini book (instructions from Sue) and am really pleased with the papers and the look of the book. Although I follow the prompts from JYC I am going to just keep a diary of events in our family this time in the hope that I can keep up.

Craft Fair

I've not had a lot of time recently to keep my blog up to date as I was busy making things for a craft fair which was held on Saturday.  Here are some pictures.

Apologies for some of the blurry photos:(

Rainbow's End

While we were on holiday in Scotland we happened to see quite a few spectacular rainbows and at times it looked like you could see the beginning and the end of them.  Unfortunately I didn't get any quality photos but this is one of the better ones.

Actually I think this one is better but never mind, I used the other one!

The challenge on UKs was to scrap something other than people or animals so I thought it would be a good opportunity to use this photo.  We also had to use a cluster of embellishments and inking/misting stencilling and no patterned papers.
I inked some punched circles in rainbow colours as the basis of my page and this is the finished result.

I haven't done any journalling yet because I will probably scrap a couple more rainbow pictures and do one lot of journalling for all of them.

Pretty cute

A marmite challenge over on UKs this week:-

Photos – ones you love and don’t think you can do justice to or ones you hate because they’re blurry, colours are wrong, you don’t think you look good etc, but know they should be used for all sorts of reasons. ‘Love It’ or ‘Hate It’, get them out and get them scrapped.

Colours – choose your favourite ones or ones you’re not keen on, but have papers and embellishments in and keep putting off using them. ‘Love It’ or ‘Hate It’, now could be the time they make an appearance.

Technique – use the one you either love to do most/love the look of and have never tried, or choose one that you have tried before, but that you already hate because it’s messy/frustrating/takes time/never goes right first time/doesn’t look like it does in the picture or tutorial. ‘Love It’ or ‘Hate It’, which technique will you go for?

I chose a photo of Millie that I love, some papers that I hate the colours of and distressing technique which I love.

I might be back later with some cards!

Beat the Christmas rush cards

Five more simple cards made using some wooden tree decorations.  The cards and decorations are supposed to be Christmas red and they are in real life but on here they look orange:(  I have added some glitter to the decorations to make them sparkly.  Very simple, very quick but they look quite effective.

I have entered these for Sue's Beat the Christmas Rush challenge.

Time flies...

Two weeks have gone by and I haven't visited my poor blog!

I have however, managed to do the last couple of weeks weekly challenges over on UKs.

Week 2 was to use pink or blue, 5 lines of journalling, 3 or more photos in a cluster and the title must begin "A day at" or "A day in".

I'm enjoying scrapping the photos of our weekend in Dorset so I have carried on with this theme here.

This will go next to my previous layout, Nonoctopus which you can see here as it was on the same day.  I wanted them to go together but not as a double page spread.

(The bucket and sunglasses came from my teamie, Janet.  Thank you:) )

I didn't manage the 5 lines of journalling but looking at the page again today, I might add that now, I don't think it would spoil it.

Week 3 on Uks was to use this colour scheme,

circles and buttons or ribbons.

This picture was taken on the Friday afternoon - we walked in to Swanage, spent some time on the beach and then had fish and chips before walking back to Ulwell and having a couple of drinks in the pub!

Nonoctopus

what is this you may well ask?  My children who are 26 and 23 still love messing about on the beach and when we all went to Dorset a couple of weekends ago they enjoyed building huge sandcastles, digging holes and making Holly in to a nine legged octopus LoL!

I made this page for the monthly challenge on UKs where we had to use a Dr Seuss quote so I chose this one:-
" Today you are you, that is truer than true.  There is no one alive who is youer than you."

Perfect for both my children:)

I thought it might be fun to make up my own dictionary definition for nonoctopus!

Unloved and unwanted

that's how my blog must be feeling!  It's weeks since I posted here - mainly due to being in Scotland for 2.5 weeks in September then a weekend in Dorset when we got back.  Anyway, hopefully now I'll get back to normal, do some crafting and use my blog:)

To start things off, here is the weekly challenge from UKs.

The criteria was to use the sketch provided, use a title from a book, painting or misting and Autumnal colours.

This photo was taken last weekend when we were on our way back from near Swanage.  We stopped at Wareham - it's such a lovely little village (town?) on the river and the weather was perfect.  We decided to hire a motor boat for an hour which we all enjoyed - it was nice to cruise along at a leisurely pace, taking in the sites.

Here are my three boys

and of course, Tuppenny Wee:)

Lunch was freshly made cheese and onion sandwiches followed by a large slab of Dorset apple cake, yum!

WOYWW 221 - omg!

Look at my desk!

Recently some of you who visit Julia's blog have been having a bit of reorganisation in your craft spaces.

I'd got the to the point in my room where I wasn't being productive so I thought perhaps it's time I gave my room a good clear out and got rid of the stuff I've had for years.

More pics of the horror!

There is now a a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel - this is the other side of my room (I didn't take a before pic) but this is it now, 3 shelves  starting to be sorted.

The top shelf has been cleared and I have put all my albums up there and over the next week or so all that is underneath with be cleared.

Pop over to Julia's blog and you will find desks that are much easier on the eye than mine:)
