Love my dog

Hmmm, poor neglected blog.  I've not really felt much like scrapping but this week my lovely friend Sue was setting the weekly challenge so I've finally managed to do that today.
It was a recipe theme and we had to use 6 ingredients which were photos, colours of cardstock, words, the same embellishment, patterned paper and circles.    I used:
one photo
two colours of cardstock
three words
four of the same embellishments
5 patterned papers
six circles

LSNED 11th and 12th September

Two very simple pages today.

What can you learn from looking at a particular photo or photos in general?  I don't seem to have got the hang of taking a picture of myself or of Chris and I - I usually cut parts of our head or body off and when I got my pictures back from the developers, I can see that I need to improve on this lol!

I didn't follow the prompt today and went my own way.  I just thought I'd count up how much I ironing I can do before I have had enough.

Today I ironed for 3.5 hours and achieved the above list.  Not bad.

Man at Work and LSNED

The monthly challenge on UKs was easy this month, work, rest or play so I went with the work theme.  Chris was at home making a window frame for a client so against his wishes I took some photos!

and here are a couple of close ups

I also have a couple of LSNED pages to upload from the 9th and 10th September.

Holly makes playing the "magic piano" on her iPad look so easy but I can't get the hang of doing it lol!

I'm a list person so I went with that for the 10ths prompt.

LSNED Day 7 and 8

The prompt for the 7th was what do we do with our "in-between" time - the time spent travelling to and from work for example.
When I'm going to work I like to sing to the radio lol!  If I don't know the song or there is a lot of talking, I plan what I will do with my free time when I'm home.  When I'm waiting for Chris to come home from work and tea is already, or waiting at the dentists or something similar, then I might be found playing Bejeweled on my iPhone lol!

Today's prompt was called "new skill Saturday" - is there a skill we'd like to learn, well yes, for me there is.  I have just made a trifle for our family tea and I made the custard from powder, I have never, as far as I can remember, made "proper" custard so I have promised myself that it is something I will do before the end of the month.

Going to the dogs

A bit later than usual, but the scrap map is over on CCW, another fab sketch drawn by our very own talented Sue:)

This is my interpretation of it.
A very simple page for me - hardly any embellishments, just a bit of twine and some of my handmade buttons.
There is no journalling yet - I will probably be making another couple of pages about our recent trip to the dog track so will do one lot of journalling for all the pages.  I'm sure I'll put them here on my blog in due course.

Have a go and link up to the CCW blog and you could win a prize.

Learn Something New Every Day Day 6

Today's prompt was about being grateful/thankful and I am thankful that I have such wonderful children and they tell me how much they love me.  Holly I see everyday and everyday she tells me she loves me and sends me text messages to say the same and I really love this.  I never told my Mum I loved her and she never said she loved me so it makes me very happy that Holly and I can say this to each other.

Learn Something New Every Day 3 & 4

My journalling for the third of September is hidden, not because it's private but because I didn't know where to put it - my pages are 6" x 6". It's here if you want to read it:
Today's prompt, "what can we learn from our own two feet" reminded me of the Dr Seuss book, "Oh the places we'll go" and that took me on the the conversation we had with Holly and Steph last week about going to work in Canada. Holly's Canadian friend Laura is getting married in November (she was getting married next July and Holly and Steph were going out to the wedding.) It's been brought forward as Laura's husband to be is starting a new job in Vancouver but the currently live in Toronto so it's a move to the other side of the country for them, and as this doesn't give my girls long enough to save up to go there they are hoping to go and visit Laura in April, in her new home.
Both Holly and Steph would like to work in Canada and may well look into the job situation. Of course this would be a wonderful opportunity for them but I would miss Holly dreadfully. Chris would go out and live there if he could! But if they do go then we'll have to visit as often as we can afford.

SO have I learned a lesson from all of this? Perhaps that letting go is easier said than done.

Here is my page.

Learn Something New Every Day

September is the time for the LSNED class from Shimelle which I have done for the past 3 years and the only class I have managed to finish so I'm hoping this year I can do the same.

Here are my pages from day one and day two.  On saturday I weighed myself - I am trying to lose a bit of weight and my weigh in day is monday so I shouldn't have weighed in anyway, but I found that I had gained 3/4 lb in the week.  The lesson I learned yesterday was that I must write down everything I eat so I don't forget and should therefore be able to keep more control of what goes in my mouth lol!  That's the theory anyway.

Today's page is about me being spontaneous.  Holly said she'd seen there was a 1940s weekend on at the Milton Keynes Museum and she thought Nan and Grandad might like to go.    This was mid morning, Chris was diving and when I go anywhere, I like to plan and look forward to it so for me to say "yes" straight away was a bit out of character.  We had the most fabulous afternoon, the parents in law thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the highlight for me was when we were sitting outside, enjoying a cup of tea, the 1940s radio playing all the old songs and listening to Chris's Mum singing away.

Meriden

The centre of England - or it's supposed to be.  Whether it is or not, it was a lovely place to stay to explore North Warwickshire.

The weekly challenge on UKs was to scrap a place - Meriden, use circles and use gold, silver or bronze.
I wasn't going to bother with the gold/silver/bronze bit but then I thought I'd use brads for the caravan wheels at the bottom right of the page.
