At the end of the rainbow...

Hello and welcome to the Creative Craft World, blog hop.  If you have arrived here from CCW you will know that the theme of the hop is 'At the end of the rainbow' and we all know that at the end of a rainbow is a pot of gold.  To be in with a chance of winning this 'pot of gold' you need to visit and comment on all the blogs over the next few days finishing up of the 6th September back at Creative Craft World.

As I'm first on the hop list I'm going to kick off with a red project - I seem to have a bit of a reputation for liking red spotted items so I thought I'd make a nice, simple necklace using a red spotted button!
Here's what you will need:
a 29mm fabric covered button (available from Creative Craft World) or here:
a bottle top
jump ring
chain
and not pictured, some silicone glue

Flatten the bottle top in a die cutting machine or get your other half to do it in a vice if you don't have a machine.

Drill a small hole in the top of the cap.
Add a jump ring.
Squeeze some silicone onto the back side of the button

Carefully place the button onto the bottle cap, pushing down gently and making sure none of the silicone squeezes out.  Leave to dry then thread  the chain through the jump ring and you're done.
Easy and effective.

Of course you don't have to add a button, you could add a stamped image, cover with glossy accents and add mirco beads for a bit of texture or even use an image from a magazine.  It will need to be about 1" in diameter.

Note:  you can buy flattened bottle caps in packs of 10 complete with hole drilled and jump ring added from a well known auction site.

Everyone who leaves a comment on my blog and becomes a follower is in with a chance of winning a small prize.  I haven't decided exactly what yet, but I'm sure it will have something red and something spotted in it!

Thanks for reading.  Now you need to hop along tomorrow to the next blog which is
Scraps of Sarah who will, no doubt, be using orange in her project.

Thanks for joining me and I hope you have a go at my little project.  If you do, post me a link as I'd love to see what you make :)

I have entered the necklace into this challenge - Anything goes at Anything But a Card Challenge Blog

More embellies

This time for Learn Something New Everyday, a Shimelle class which starts on 1st September.  This will be my fourth year of doing this and the only class I have ever finished lol!

Over the last couple of days I've been making the numbers one to thirty for my book which will save time over the month.  I've also cut my Kraft cardstock to 6" x 6" and inked the edges, so that's another job done.
These are my numbers.

Pop back tomorrow if you get chance as I'm starting the Creative Craft World Rainbow's End blog hop and have a little red project for you to have a go at with the chance of winning a prize:)
Hope to see you then.

Forward thinking...

We're going on holiday soon and I intend to make a mini book of our time away so I have started to prepare a few pages and this morning made a few embellies to go on the pages.

These are the embellishments I've made so far.

It doesn't get any better than this

Not really the title I had planned - in fact it's not really the title but that's still work in progress!
I love, love, love this photo of Holly and wanted to do it justice - it was taken a couple of weeks ago when we went to Adam and Lucy's for dinner.  I also wanted to scraplift a layout in Scrapbook Magazine, Issue 65 done by Louise Collins so I hope the two together, work.

I've used the criteria from the weekly challenge on UKs - use ribbon in a different way to normal, so I have made 2 ribbon flowers, use stitching, scrap something that happened in the last month and finally, include tearing which I did by accident lol!

Outward Bound

Our team on UKs are doing a weekly scraplift - Sue picks one of our layouts, a different person each week, makes a sketch and we scraplift it.  I've got a bit behind and I've just done last weeks which was a lovely page done by Jen.  I would show you the sketch and the original layout but I don't quite know how to lol!

This is my page:

The photo was taken at Luton Airport - Holly and Steph flew from there when they went on their recent holiday to Feurteventura.

It's nice being able to have the option of matching the felt to my papers lol!

August mini scrap kit

I had a bit of a rush to prepare my projects this month for Creative Craft World, as I didn't get the kit until Wednesday (I think, although it might have been Tuesday - the days just merge into one lol!).  The papers are ones I wouldn't have chosen myself but I soon found they weren't going to be a problem and here is the result.

The only other thing I used apart from the contents of the kit was the lettering for "Ship of the desert", and two brads for the centres of the ribbon flowers, everything else was in the kit including the blue alphas.

These pages are going to form part of a book I will be making for Holly of her recent trip to Feurteventura.

Check out the Creative Craft World blog, upload your project which has to be smaller than 12" x 12" and you could be in with the chance of a prize.

A new camera

Holly and I both got new cameras within a couple of days of each other so we took loads of random pictures to get used to them.  This photo of Holly is one of mine - not great but it suited the monthly challenge  over on UKs which was to use a colour combo of pink, grey, green and white.

As my sewing machine was on my craft desk I thought I'd make use of it to do a bit of stitching on my page and I am pleased how it turned out and it is something I will do again.

This is a close up of the roses - I'm surprised how nice pink and grey look together!

Gold

Our family have been watching and enjoying the Olympics over the last week or so and on Saturday night, Greg Rutherford from Milton Keynes won a gold medal in the long jump:)  This meant that our town would have one of its post boxes painted gold in the medalist's honour.  We thought it would be a bit of fun to go and have our pictures taken next to this box so I checked on the internet to see where it was and found we had two gold boxes!

We started to take a few pictures when suddenly, car after car pulled up with the same idea.  It's location had been on the news so everyone had the same idea.

Anyway, back to my layout.  The weekly challenge on UKs was to use a sketch, use 4 or more patterned papers and recycle a household item.   I wanted to scrap my gold post box pictures straight away and the sketch was perfect for me.

Here is a close up of the journalling.

New buttons

I'm just trying to see if I can post from my iPhone . Holly set this up for me ages ago and I didn't know how to use it.
Below are done buttons I've been making but I'm not sure if I like them enough to go in my shop. I have tried to delete this pic and replace it with a better one but haven't quite worked out how to do that yet!
