Trial Run

I was looking for some papers the other day and I came across a pack of American Crafts papers.  I pulled out a red and green piece and thought to myself, never in a million years will I use this, the pattern is too big and not my cup of tea.  So I decided to make up a mini kit of papers and ribbon to see if I could actually do anything with it.
This is the kit.
and this is the result.
I have used some of my gorgeous spotty buttons that Sue sent me, as centres for my ribbon flowers.  I was going to use them in place of the brads too, but decided that was too extravagant!

Saturday Scrap Map - He said.......

Today's scrap map can be found here at Creative Craft World.  The theme is weddings and the map was drawn by Sarah.

I chose to use a picture of Adam and Lucy at their engagement party which was taken last saturday.  They're not due to get married for a couple of years though, but planning has begun.

I painted the wooden hearts with pink and green acrylic paint then clear embossed them.  I used some liquid pearls around the big heart frame and a few on the wooden hearts.

A couple of close ups of the flowers.

Hollington Wood

The weekly challenge over on UKs had quite a list of requirements and some of mine are a bit tenuous but never mind.
You had to use black and white, ribbon, metal, 11 of something and something miraculous or wonderful.  I chose a picture Holly took of the woods we walked through last weekend when trying out Polly.  There were bluebells as far as the eye could see and they looked and smelled fabulous.  The picture doesn't show this very well unfortunately - well the colour, obviously not the smell!

Adam and Lucy

A couple of pictures from the engagement party, neither brilliant unfortunately.  I hope PIL has some better ones.

2gether

This is the page I have been fiddling about with over the last couple of days.  I'm happy with it now.  I used these Basic Grey papers to make Steph's card and like them so much I had to do a LO.  I used the same photo as I did for the card - I printed this one first but it wasn't big enough so waste not, want not:)
I used the sketch from Sketchy Thursdays May DT.
I thought I'd also show you the card Holly made for Steph.  When she actually bothers, she can make nice cards but mostly she's not interested.  Maybe one day.....

Warwick Castle - CCW Scrap map

This weeks scrap map sketch at Creative Craft World is the theme of red, white and blue as it's St Georges day and in honour of the marriage of William and Kate next friday .  I chose a picture of the day we went to visit Warwick Castle.

One over the 8

I'm not a big drinker but I do like the occasional glass of rose wine so when I saw some tiny bottles in the supermarket I thought they would be ideal for the retreat.  Their size amused Maria no end!

Steph's birthday card

I decided as I wasn't buying Steph a present this year (instead she's coming to stay on the houseboat with us as our guest) I'd make a card she could frame if she wanted to so made an A4 sized card the same was as I did the weekly challenge.

The second picture shows the pull out tag.  I didn't want to put Happy Birthday on the front so I used a tag.

Soggy - April Week 3

This weeks challenge was set by sneeky Sue,  my team mate and the brief was make the layout any shape except square, no brads, buttons, blooms or patterned papers, include one or 3 photos and finally to use pinks/purples or oranges/browns.

I went with 8.5" x 11" - I enjoy doing this size and they are sooooooooooo much easier to store!  I cut some odd squares of c/s and randomly stamped and or embossed them, distressed the edges and Bob's your uncle, job pretty much done.

Holly and Sam went out on a cycle ride and got half way round the lake when the heavens opened and they got absolutely soaked.  This is why they look so bedraggled and the pull out tag pretty much says this.

Creative Craft World saturday scrap map

Today, the theme is Easter and you will find the sketch here on Creative Craft World blog.
I chose to scrap a picture of Adam when he was about two and a half - I can't believe he's 23 and engaged now!

So funny

I thought I'd uploaded this the other day, but obviously not.  This is how Maria and I spent most of our time at the retreat - crying with laughter.
A little parcel arrived through my letter box this afternoon from my lovely friend Sue.

Anyone would think I liked red spots!!  Thank you Sue.

You are a dream come true

The challenge this week on UKs was to scrap a celebration or a special event, use pink or blue and finally to use bells, houses, flowers or stamping and I went with flowers.
The picture is of Holly and her Daddy not long after she was born.

Welcome to Polly

This is Polly, a new addition to our family.  We are going to have some fab times in her, I just know.

Creative Craft World Scrap Map - shapes

This week the theme was shapes and there is a sketch to follow over on CCW.

I'm trying to get on top of my Cornwall holiday photos and if this looks similar to a page I did in March, it is.  Well, the subject and the papers are!

A view of Padstow

Another just because page for my Cornwall holiday album.  We went to Padstow to look round the shops and have a toasted teacake and coffee whilst looking over the harbour.  Mmm.....

So Happy Together

This week's UKS challenge was minimalist. To use no more than two photos, no more than two different sorts of embellishments, circles and a line from a song for the title.  My song title is one from back in the 60's - by The Turtles.  I didn't feel as though my original layout was "finished" so after I had uploaded it to UKs I added some glitter glue to the letters, a bit of bling to the centres of the flowers and to part of the circle.
I've put them side by side so you can see the difference.  Well, I did put them side by side but obviously but my blog decided differently!!!

Happy is how I feel.....

.......when I'm with you both.  Today is Mother's Day and so I was taken out for coffee and cake (delish) but more importanly, it was a photo opportunity - but why, when Adam and Holly get together do they revert to being 10 and 8 years of age?  You will see what I mean when I scrap some of the pictures in the next few days:)
This one is probably the most "normal".

Boscastle

Boscastle, November 2010 - what a beautiful place this is and after the floods it has been reinstated to it's former self.
However, this picture doesn't show much of it's beauty at all lol!  I will be getting around to scrapping some more picturesque pictures soon I hope.

Sunday Lunch

Todays sketch at Creative Craft World is designed by Sarah and the theme is "Boys will be boys".  Have a go, you might be our next guest designer.
